30 Essential Expressions to be used in IELTS Essay1.

1. Play an important role in

Robots are playing an increasingly more important role in the field of industry and science.

로봇은 많은 산업과 과학의 분야에서 점점 더 중요한 역할을 하고 있다.

2. make, enable , allow Object + to~

Children to explore the neighbourhood will enable them to develop the sense of place.

아이들이 이웃을 탐험하도록 하는 것은 장소에 대한 감각을 발전 시키도록 할 것이다.

3. Prevent, Prohibit, Keep + Object + from~ ing

The censorship of information will prevent them from being exposed to harmful informaiton.

정보의 검열은 그들이 해로운 정보에 노출되어 지는 것을 막는다.

4. exert a negative influence(effect) on~

Harmful information exerts an extremely negative influence on the younger generation.

5. be exposed to 

Young people are exposed to a huge amount of violent and obscene informatin through books. 

TV, movies and especially through the internet.

엄청난 양의 폭력적이고 음란한 정보가 핵, TV, 영화, 특히 인터넷을 통해서 젊은이들에게 노출되어 진다.

6. distinguish A from B

Children have no ability to distinguish right from wrong.
아이들은 옳고 그름을 구별할 수 있는 능력이 없다.

7. do harm to / do good to

Most people assume that human activities do harm to the natural environment.

인간의 활동이 자연환경에 해를 끼친다고 대부분의 사람들은 생각한다.

8. devote/ contribute

Sports stars  devote their time and energy to continuous practice and training.

스포츠 스타는 그들의 시간과 에너지를 계속되는 연습과 훈련에 쏟아 붓는다.

The contribution of sports stars to society is indirect and superficial.

사회에 대한 스포츠 스타의 기여는 간접적이고 피상적이다.

Leaving away from school for a long time may cause high school graduates to lose interest in their study.

오랫동안 학교를 떠나있는 것은 고등학교 졸업생들에게 공부애 대한 관심을 잃게 만들 수 있다.

Protecting the languages of the minorities helps preserve their cultures.

소수민족의 언어를 보호하는 것은 그들의 문화를 보존하는데에 도움을 준다.
